Starting Point

Starting Point is a conversational environment where you can explore faith and experience community.

It’s a safe place for you to ask questions and to learn about the Bible and Christianity, created for people who want to have meaningful conversations about faith. You may have legitimate questions that you’ve always wondered about but never felt you could ask at church. Questions you feared might make other Christians uncomfortable. Ask them! Nothing is off-limits. We want to have conversations about what really matters to you. Especially when it’s difficult to talk about. We believe that God loves you. And we believe he’s big enough to handle your toughest questions, darkest moments and deepest doubts.

We want to honor him by creating an environment where you can be open, honest, and transparent. Starting Point is designed for:

  • Seekers: Those who are curious about God, Jesus, the Bible, or Christianity.
  • Starters: Those who have just begun a relationship with Jesus.
  • Returners: Those who have some church experience, but have been away for a while.

Free childcare available!

21-Day Fast

January 10, 2022 – January 30, 2022

As part of our Not A Fan series, Emmanuel Church is embarking on a 21-Day Fast.

The goal of fasting is to draw nearer to God by eliminating distractions for a spiritual purpose. A fast hits the reset button on our soul and renews us from the inside out. It also enables us to celebrate God's mercy and goodness and prepares our hearts for the abundant life He wants for each of us.

TYPES OF FASTS

Your 21-Day Fast should be challenging, but it is important to consider your health, your options, and, most importantly, the guidance of the Holy Spirit as you decide on what type of fast to pursue.

TOTAL FAST

Drink only liquids, typically water with light juices as an option.

MODIFIED FOOD FAST

Remove certain foods from your diet. A common form is the Daniel Fast, during which you remove meat, sweets, and bread from your diet and consume water and juice for fluids and fruits and vegetables for food.

MEDIA FAST

This fast is a great option if you do not have much experience fasting food, have health issues that prevent you from fasting from food, or if you wish to refocus certain areas of your life that are out of balance. You might choose to stop using social media or watching television for the duration of the fast and then carefully bring that element back into your life in healthy doses at the conclusion of the fast.

Remember, fasting should be cause for joy, not misery! Focus on God, not on what you are giving up. Don’t beat yourself up if you stumble or lose focus. Just pick up where you left off and keep going.

What are you hoping God shows you over these next 21 days?

Promotion Weekend

Summer Impact Team Opportunity

Did you know that a teacher spends over $500 to $1000 on average out of their own pocket for necessary school supplies each year?

Let’s show some love for the teachers in our community by helping provide some of these supplies!

Our goal is to provide 700 boxes across our campuses to give to teachers before school starts in July! And we’re inviting YOU to team up with your family or small group to help fill these boxes.

Grab a box in the lobby of your campus and fill it with the following items:

 2 boxes of tissues
 2 disinfectant wipes/pump
3 Ziploc baggies (gallon, quart, and sandwich size)
 1 package of Sharpies (8-10)
1 large package of dry erase markers
 2 boxes of pencils
 1 small game or puzzle
 1 encouraging note
1 $5 gift card to the coffee shop of your choice

Approximate Cost: $25-$30

You can also complete our Amazon Wish List to participate.

Complete the Amazon Wish List or bring your box of items back to your campus by the weekend of July 10 and 11.

Thank you for helping to bless the teachers of our community schools!

Small Groups: Fall 2018 Semester

September 8 & 9

We hope to see you this weekend!

Lead Pastor, Danny Anderson will be kicking off a brand-new teaching series called "Good Christian."

What does it mean to be a "good" Christian? Are we on the right track?  We're going to be looking at four signs of what it means... and they may not be what you think they are! And this weekend, we're starting with a look at desire.

COVID-19 Updates

Update from Pastor Danny on Returning to Physical Gatherings - 5/19/2020

To summarize…

We will be offering modified, touchless weekend services at our Greenwood and Franklin Campuses beginning May 30 and 31. (More information on our Banta and Garfield Park Campus reopening timeline will be shared in the weeks to come).

A modified, touchless weekend service experience will include adjusting seating to ensure six-feet distance between families, propped open doors to limit contact with surfaces, hand sanitizer stations, additional cleaning before and in-between services, and pre-reserved seating.

To limit contact with surfaces, we will not be opening our e-café, distributing handouts, or passing around offering buckets.

We will not be providing masks, but encourage you to bring your own if you feel comfortable doing so.

You will have the opportunity to reserve your seat for these services starting next week through our website.

To maintain government recommended social distancing guidelines, we will not be providing in-person children’s ministry environments. Kids are welcome to join you in-service in any of our environments, with the exception of our Greenwood Campus auditorium, which serves as our broadcast campus and will be available only for those fifth-grade and up.

We will continue to provide weekly children’s ministry content online to help engage your kids with age-appropriate lessons and activities.

If you are not yet comfortable returning to service, or unable to do so, we encourage you to continue engaging with us online, inviting and sharing with your friends and family, staying connected to your small group, and connecting with your campus through our social media, including our campus Facebook groups.

Update from Pastor Danny on Returning to Physical Gatherings – 5/5/2020

Check out this update from Lead Pastor, Danny Anderson, what Emmanuel Church will be doing about reconvening services at our physical locations.

In light of Gov. Holcomb’s revised stay-at-home orders on May 1, we have been praying, communicating with other churches, and reviewing the five-stage plan outlined in Holcomb’s address.

For the next two weeks, Emmanuel will be continuing to stream all services online. In Pastor Danny’s video, he shares the reason behind this decision.

It’s all about our mission – to see people come to Christ and grow in Christ.

We want each of you who are a part of Emmanuel Church to feel comfortable inviting your friends, neighbors, co-workers, and loved ones who have written off church as boring, judgmental, or irrelevant. And we want them to feel comfortable accepting that invitation to one of our physical locations.

We don’t feel like our community is quite there yet.

But we believe they will be soon.

In the meantime, we encourage you to continue engaging with us online. Keeping Relentless Pursuing others and inviting them to join us. Continue sharing our social media posts and engaging with your campus communities through our Facebook groups. Continue engaging with our children’s and student content. And continue your generosity and faithful giving online so that we can continue to meet the needs of our community as they arise.

Update - 3/17/2020

As we continue to learn more about the steps taken by our government to slow the spread of the Coronavirus (COVID-19), I wanted to share a quick video update and a word of encouragement.

Services will stream on YouTube, Facebook, and through the Emmanuel App:

Saturday, March 21 @ 4pm and 6pm

Sunday, March 22 @ 9am and 11am

In My Feelings: Week 2 – Create Space

Check out last weekend’s message discussing how we create space to process negative emotions as well as a helpful tool called the Prayer of the Examen. You can view our past messages here.

On-Campus Events This Week

All on-campus events are suspended this week, including Night of Worship, on-campus groups, MTO, midweek meetings, and childcare.

We are also encouraging all small groups to not meet in person. Contact your group leader for more details on how your group can continue to meet online.

Children and Students

Our teams are working hard to create content and get that out to our parents to continue engaging our children and students in the weeks ahead. Check out Emmanuel Church – Families Facebook Group to stay up to date on those environments.

Download the Parent Cue app on Google Play or the Apple store. You will find story videos designed for K-3rd grade and the So and So Show for 4th and 5th grade, bringing Bible stories straight into your home.

Giving

Thank you in advance for your continued generosity at Emmanuel. Not only is your giving allowing us to continue meeting the needs ministry through each of our campuses and environments, but also the needs of our community as they arise during this time. ‘

We are currently in talks with schools and local foodbanks on how we can help meet needs in the weeks ahead.

If you haven’ yet shifted your giving to online giving, you can set up a recurring gift here.

Stay in the Word

It’s more crucial now than ever to stay in the Word of God. We are in some distressing times. My hope is that your trust in God will bring peace to your heart and that peace will be a testimony to those around you.

Update - 3/13/2020

We have heard from Indiana Governor Eric Holcomb on the new steps the state government is implementing to protect the further spread of the Coronavirus (COVID-19), including the limit of non-essential public gatherings to no more than 250 people, including churches like ours.

Because of this, all weekend services at Emmanuel will be online only this weekend.

Services will stream on YouTube, Facebook, and through the Emmanuel App:

Saturday, March 14 @ 4pm and 6pm
Sunday, March 15 @ 9am and 11am

Please read on for more info.

Families and Kiddos
We want to make sure your kiddos don’t miss out on church this weekend.
Download the Parent Cue app on Google Play or the Apple Store. You will find story videos designed for K-3rd grade and the So and So Show for 4th and 5th grade, bringing Bible stories straight into your home.

On-Campus Events Next Week

At this time, we will also be suspending all on-campus events next week including Night of Worship, small groups, MTO, midweek meetings, and childcare. We will continue to evaluate this week to week and update you as the situation unfolds.

Final Word
In closing, it’s vital that we push away a spirit of fear and, instead, cultivate a trust and faith in God. We can do that by focusing our minds and hearts on Who God is. He is our Great Physician. Psalm 46:1-2 says, “God is our refuge and strength, a very present help in trouble. Therefore, we will not fear...”

Our buildings may be closed this weekend, but we’re looking forward to joining all of Emmanuel online. Invite a friend!

COVID-19 Response

How Emmanuel Church is Responding

Thanks to the continued generosity of our congregation, Emmanuel Church is responding to the current COVID-19 crisis and social distancing protocols in the following ways.

  • Contributing to local school feeding programs, starting with Franklin Community Schools, in order to help provide meals for children who typically rely on school provided lunches.
  • Contributing towards Midwest Food Bank for their ongoing food bank supply efforts.
  • Working with the Refuge, a local community outreach center that is centrally located between all of our Emmanuel campus communities. The Refuge is broadening their reach by offering a drive-thru food and assistance program during the week.
  • Purchased 10,000 N95 masks for local hospitals.

Your continued generosity allows Emmanuel to meeting the needs of ministry through each of our campuses and environments, as well as providing financial resources to these local partnerships throughout this COVID-19 crisis.

If you haven’t already, we encourage you to set up a recurring gift today.

Team World Vision

Emmanuel is excited to once again partner with Team World Vision for the third year to help provide life-changing clean water to children and communities in Africa.

But this is not just for runners. If you have ever wanted to do something about global poverty, say YES. You can do this.

Join the team!

Our goal is simple – raise money to provide clean water for children and families. 50% of children under the age of 5 die in Africa due to Infant Mortality – from contaminations in unclean water.

All campuses are invited to join us online for the churchwide kickoff: Wednesday, July 15 at 8:00 PM ET

21-Day Fast

January 9, 2023 – January 30, 2023

As part of the “Who's Counting” series, Emmanuel Church is embarking on a 21-Day Fast.

The goal of fasting is to draw closer to God by eliminating distractions for a spiritual purpose. A fast hits the reset button on our soul and renews us from the inside out. It also enables us to celebrate God's mercy and goodness and prepares our hearts for the abundant life He wants for each of us.

TYPES OF FASTS

Your 21-Day Fast should be challenging, but it is important to consider your health, your options, and most importantly, the guidance of the Holy Spirit as you decide on what type of fast to pursue.

Complete Fast

Drink only liquids, typically water and/or light juices as an option.

Partial Fast

Abstaining from entire meals for a designated amount of time. One example of this is the "Jewish Fast" which is a full-day fast that begins with sunset in the evening and continues until sunset the next day. A minor fast day begins with dawn and ends at darkness. This can be correlated to specific times of day such as 6 am to 3 pm.

Soul Fast

This fast is a great option if you do not have much experience fasting food, have health issues that prevent you from fasting from food, or if you wish to refocus certain areas of your life that are out of balance. You might choose to stop using social media or watching television for the duration of the fast and then carefully bring that element back into your life in healthy doses at the conclusion of the fast. Set limits on your screen time and/or your media use. You might give up certain movies and television entirely or just at certain times of the day or week. You could also say no screen time after a certain time of day. Or delete the social media app you use the most. Then, use that time you would have spent on a screen in prayer and studying the Bible.

Remember, fasting should be cause for joy, not misery! Focus on God, not on what you are giving up. Don’t beat yourself up if you stumble or lose focus. Just pick up where you left off and keep going.

What are you hoping God shows you over these next 21 days?

Hey Emmanuel Church Family,

RESET NIGHTS was incredible, full of amazing moments that were carefully orchestrated by the Holy Spirit! Our church has witnessed many remarkable transformations that have left us in awe of God's work.

The passion and devotion to Jesus displayed by everyone who came to RESET NIGHTS was truly inspiring. One particular story that touched me was a woman at our church who reached out on social media to share her story with us. This is what she said:

“I decided to get baptized tonight to surrender my all to Him. I have been selfish in living my own way of life. It was time for me to do something about it, and I felt God calling me up there to surrender my all, and I did it with a smile knowing this would be the greatest moment of my life!”

The impact of God's presence and work in our lives during RESET NIGHTS was truly remarkable. I trust that these nights provided the spiritual reset you sought, and that you will continue this movement in your life--this “Monday Morning Faith”--through daily repentance, surrender, and obedience to what God says in His Word.

Our staff and I will be praying for your spiritual journey, that the Holy Spirit would continue to guide you as you daily seek Him.

Although RESET NIGHTS has concluded, I believe we are just getting started with what God has in store for us. Join us as we continue our RESET series at 9 and 11 am at all of our campuses.

If you missed any of the messages from RESET NIGHTS or you would like to watch them again, go to our YouTube channel and check them out.

Looking forward to seeing you this weekend!

God bless, Pastor Danny

Thank You Cards for Teachers

We value our teachers. Each year, we seek to show love and appreciation to our community educators.

Now more than ever, our teachers need a word of encouragement and gratitude.

Did you know that a teacher spends over $500 to $1000 on average out of their own pocket for necessary school supplies each year?

Let’s show some love for the teachers in our community by helping provide some of these supplies!

Here’s what you can do!

Step 1

Write a thank you card and add a $25 Amazon Gift Card

Step 2

Stick it in an envelope and mark it “Teacher Appreciation”

Step 3

Drop it off at your campus info desk OR mail it to our centralized office:

1640 W Stones Crossing Rd Greenwood, IN 46143

Step 4

Emmanuel will collect these cards and match each one with an additional $25 gift card, then distribute them to teachers in each of our campus communities.

(Please do not write your cards to a specific teacher so that we can adequately distribute these across different schools and districts)

Please drop off or mail your cards by August 27.

Children and Students

We have fun age-specific environments designed just for your kids!

Our Children's Ministry (newborn - 4th grade) and 56 (5th & 6th grade) environments meet during weekend services. There, your child will have the opportunity to learn about Jesus in creative and engaging ways through teaching, games, and group activities.

We also offer a Supportive Services Ministry for any children with differing needs or who need added support during weekend services.

Everyone serving within our children’s environments has undergone extensive background checks and training.

Each year, many who call Emmanuel home make a unique, year-end contribution above and beyond their regular generosity.

Your radical display of generosity allows Emmanuel Church to go further faster, making it possible for us to create new environments or improve existing ones in need of updates.

Why is this important?

Because we exist to see people come to Christ and grow in Christ, and we are on a Relentless Pursuit for those who are far from God.

This means removing every possible barrier between someone and the transformative hope of Jesus.

This year, all Year-End Giving gifts will allow Emmanuel to make much-needed improvements to the broadcast campus in Greenwood, Indiana. These improvements include constructing a new entrance and exit out of the parking lot to improve traffic flow, which is often a hindrance to our guests' enjoyable experience each week. This also includes an overall facelift of the aging campus building (constructed in 1989) to best reflect Emmanuel's culture and vision.
