Finance Assistant

Job Description

Full-Time (40 hours per week, some weekend responsibilities)

Reports to: Finance Director

Summary of Role:

The Finance Assistant will help the Finance Director with daily financial activities of Emmanuel Church. The ideal candidate should be well organized and have great time management skills. He or she will need to be capable of adhering to Emmanuel’s current and future finance processes and procedures to maintain complete and accurate financial records.

Primary Responsibilities and Duties

  • Help oversee the contribution, counting and inputting process
  • Prepare and gain approval on bills and invoices
  • Request and process W-9 forms from new vendors
  • Help oversee and manage credit card transactions
  • Review and adhere to department budgets
  • Assist the financial director in creating financial reports on a regular basis
  • Answer questions and provide assistance to staff and givers as they arise
  • Scan, file and log accounting documents
  • Other duties as assigned

Job Skills and Requirements

  • Previous experience with custodial/janitorial support preferred
  • Previous financial services or bookkeeping experience preferred
  • Previous paid or volunteer experience at Emmanuel preferred
  • Successful completion of a background check
  • Ability to work with minimal supervision in a team-oriented environment
